I’m behind in updating Levi at 18 months. Mainly because we didn’t have his well check until today so now I have all the official stats.
My biggest question was how much bigger is Levi than Nathan at 18 months? Answer? Not that much!
Levi weighs in at 22.6 lbs (about a month ago when he was sick he was weighing in at 22.1 lbs). Nathan was only at 20 lbs at the same age so Levi’s not that much bigger. His weight puts him in the 10th percentile. His height (which I may recheck on my own as I’m not sure the nurse was accurate) was 32 inches putting him in the 25-50%.
Levi wears mostly 18-24 month clothing and size 7 shoes! Levi has the biggest feet in the land. In 3 months time he grew an entire size and is now only 1.5 sizes behind Nathan. A size 7 shoe is typical for a 2-3 year old. The kid has some seriously huge hands and feet! With such huge feet he wears size 2T-3T socks. We are still in size 4 diapers.
Levi is a much happier eater than Nathan and is much less picky. He’s much more willing to try foods as well. The other day he was eating pickles with me. At dinner the other I had a stuffed acorn squash and he wanted my dinner over the noodles he had for dinner. He loves all fruit, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sweet potatoes, black beans, squash, pizza, crackers, popcorn, chicken nuggets, corn, and milk. He’s okay with noodles, yogurt, and quesadillas but his mood depends on whether or not he will eat them. He does not care for cheese unless it’s shredded parmesan or hidden inside of something. He’s not very good with a spoon yet. Probably my fault as spoon = mess and since we have carpet under our table I’m trying to avoid too many stains and messes. He’s getting better though.
Levi is a very physical boy. I looked back to Nathan at 18 months and read about how he would sit and do sticker books and loved to read, read, read. If I’m lucky Levi will sit for an entire book. He loves the idea of books but the kid just can’t sit still long enough to get through them. He’s a climber and an explorer. His dream day would be involve being outside with places to explore and things to climb. He cries when we head outside and I put him in the car because he wants to get down and play. He wants in the backyard as much as possible! He’s a roamer back there.
Levi loves his mama and still cuddles with me (which I love). He is full of personality and very loud! He’s a stubborn little boy and will fight for his way. If Nathan takes a toy from him he screams and will often try to bite (has never been successful in biting but man he loves to try). Levi can be very hard to shop with because he wants out of the cart and to wander around. My trips to stores are more of speed sessions because of Levi’s lack of patience and interest. Thank God for the free cookies at King Soopers! Levi is already testing me. He’ll stand up in a chair and I’ll tell him to sit down. He’ll sit and then a moment later stand back up with this grinning face. Or he’ll try the half way sit and then pop back up. He’s ornery!!
Levi is starting to chatter away. Most of what he says does not make any sense but he will try to repeat most of what I say. Mama, dada, Nathan, kitty, dog, choo-choo, car, tree, no, please, shoes, socks, ball, book, cookie, egg, popcorn, spoon, ya-ya, light, more, pee-pee, poopie, trash, are a few of the words that he says frequently. I love now that he says “look at that”, “here you go”, “where are you”, because they are such a cute blending of words. Now that Levi can follow some basic instructions life is getting easier. ”Levi, go get your shoes/ya-ya/train.” “Go get a tissue/diaper/etc.” Levi can identify many body parts and clothing as well. Hair, head, ears, eyes, nose, teeth, fingers, toes, pee-pee, tummy, belly button, legs, shirt, shorts, shoes, socks, etc.
Levi is an amazing sleeper. He sleeps all night (rarely waking) from 8-6:30 and takes a 3-3.5 hour nap each afternoon. He still loves a little 15-30 minute nap in the car late morning if we are out. In the mornings and after his nap he will just talk in his crib. I’m not sure how long it would take for him to get mad and want out as he’s happily hung out there for an hour before. He is still a thumb sucker (left hand) and holds his ya-ya blankie by the tag while sucking his thumb.
Levi is so sweet and such a fun a boy! Can’t wait to see more of his personality come through and his language develop in the coming months and years.
One last thing – a current picture of Levi at 18 months and one of Nathan when he was 18 months.
